Being a digital entrepreneur is not the same as being a regular entrepreneur.
Not every entrepreneur works totally in the digital world.
Amazingly, in today’s world, it is possible to do just that.
You can choose to create your business and lifestyle as a digital entrepreneur.
Simply being able to work from your computer, not having to be anywhere physically, while making the money that you want.
Is that you?
What is the definition of a digital entrepreneur?
Let me explain how I define digital entrepreneurship and why it is not the same as a regular entrepreneur.
A digital entrepreneur is someone who works using only digital technology.
That doesn’t mean that you only sell digital products. It means you use digital technology in order to sell it.
A digital entrepreneur is a description of a person, not a business.
If you sell physical products, you outsource the tasks to someone so that you don’t have to be in a certain physical place. You don’t ever have to touch your physical products.
Of course, one version of a digital entrepreneur could be someone who sells ebooks, online teachings, software or any kind of service that is provided to your customers solely online.
I see myself both as a digital entrepreneur and a digital nomad.
Even while I do various speaking appearances and teach at the entrepreneurial school that requires my physical presence once in a while.
For me, the most important thing is that I’m completely free to work with my laptop anywhere on the planet.
All I need is my laptop, a power plug, and an internet connection.
I don’t have to work nine to five in the same office every single day.
I’ve done that in the past, and I will never go back to work like that.
I treasure my lifestyle and I intentionally designed my life for freedom.
Being a digital entrepreneur is a matter of choice.
You can lay on your couch in your most comfy clothing (and look as if you just woke up!).
Or you can travel somewhere with beautiful surroundings to gather new inspiration.
I do both!
I feel free, and I love it.
What do you need to succeed as a digital entrepreneur?
As a digital entrepreneur, you sell your products or services online.
This comes down to the whole process of marketing, delivering and supporting your products or services.
There are lots of things to do when you have a business online.
Just to name a few:
– Email marketing
– Social media
– Online advertising
– Search engine optimisation
The most important though – is to have your own website.
A place that will be the centre of your business online.
Having a page on Amazon, for example – or a page on one of the many platforms – should not be the centre of your online activities.
This you should view only as a sale or social channel.
There are countless fantastic (and expensive) website systems out there!
The trouble with most of them is that you often don’t have full control.
You must be able to control your own content and the system in full.
The number one system to do this is called WordPress.
WordPress is an open source system and one of the world’s most popular website systems.
Even huge corporations use WordPress.
And there is a reason for that.
Simply because it’s easy to use, extremely flexible, with tons of free add-ons (that will make your website work exactly as you want it to).
And the best thing – it’s completely free to use.
All you have to pay for is the web hosting where you have the WordPress system installed, and you can have that done with tons of firms.
If you for some reason in the future don’t like the web hosting provider you use – you simply move your site to another provider.
You can choose to pay for some (usually very low priced) add-ons and deluxe themes. But that is all optional.
What can you learn from me as a digital entrepreneur?
Quite a lot, if I may say so.
Especially when it comes to building your website.
I’m a nerd (in a good way) and a programmer – I love fixing things to make a website look just as I want it to.
I’m a perfectionist and I want things to look just right.
Everything you do online is to get people to do something.
This means that your website must be built to convert.
A conversion is, in other words, a sale, a sign-up or whatever you want them to do.
And you, of course, you want as many as possible.
Your website has to convert, not just be a fancy looking site.
I know, that time is money.
Most business owners and entrepreneurs don’t have endless hours to spend on their website.
That is why it is fortunate that I have a born ability to explain complicated things so everyone can understand it.
And I really want you to get it and be able to do things yourself.
To give you that confidence so you can succeed without being a programmer, a graphic designer or a web geek.
I know all the tips and tricks to quickly make your website look beautiful and work efficiently in no time.
